The eminent people of America's political circles, such as the U.S. Senate majority (Republican) leader Mr. Trent Lott, the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Mr. Jesse Helms, and Senior U.S. Senator Mr. Bob Smith, are considered to be extremely important politicians in a "capitalist" country. It is these very people who, out of love and affection, extended their hands to help Zhang Hongbao, someone who is not related to them at all, a complete stranger to them. It is these very people who wrote to the U.S. Attorney General, calling upon him to attend to Zhang's individual safety and freedom, requesting him to grant Zhang political asylum. Indeed, they are messengers from God who have come to rescue a helpless victim.

Meanwhile, Jiang Zemin, who is called "the core leader" of a "communist" country, has stooped to every means at his disposal to crackdown, persecute and even try to eliminate Zhang Hongbao, a Chinese citizen, a brother by race, a great contributor to the good of the country and the people. He has even traced Zhang to America and resorted to hooligan tactics of conjuring false evidences to frame Zhang with "sex crimes." Carrying out a defamatory campaign against Zhang Hongbao in order to preempt America's granting him political asylum, Jiang Zemin has attempted to have Zhang extradited back to China so that the Chinese government can dispose of him in any way that can bring them gratification. Indeed, here is a devil that is flaunting his trouble-making capacities.

These two scenes form a striking, thought-provoking contrast.

While devils have always wanted to turn people into ghosts, God has always tried to save people from disasters. In today's world, people and ghosts are mixed together. Even in places haunted by the devils, people are able to receive help from God. In this sense, there is still hope for the mankind.

The litigation involving Zhang Hongbao's political asylum in America is the continuation and extension of the political struggle between Jiang Zemin's totalitarian regime and the Chinese people seeking human rights, between the governmental persecution of Zhonggong and Zhang Hongbao on the one hand and the resistance movement against the persecution on the other.

The evolution of Zhang's political asylum case into an important political litigation in America can be traced to the maneuverings of  Jiang's government, which reached its evil hand into the American land and continued its wicked persecution of Zhang by conjuring false evidences to deceive the judge and the officials of the former U.S. administration. Through its scheme of "eliminating an adversary through the hand of a third party," the Jiang regime has attempted to get a double advantage: on the one hand, Zhang Hongbao could be "fixed" through INS; on the other, the former U.S. administration could be blamed for treading upon human rights, making it more difficult for the American government to openly criticize Jiang's government's deteriorating human right record.

Jiang Zemin, however, has failed to reckon with the fact that the United States is a free and democratic country established on the foundation of human rights and humanitarian values.

When President Bush and his new administration proceed to restore America's image that has once been tarnished, the sinuous intention of Jiang's government should be exposed, and Zhang Hongbao's political asylum case will also receive a fair and just resolution.

The people in America's political circles have begun to take actions.
